Gettin' back to blogging

Tonight while stuck at Cam's office for an emergency patient, I realized how much I loved past blog posts.  I know it is resolution time and all but I am SERIOUS.  I am back at it.

Many 2011 (and earlier) catch up blogs to follow because
we had a fabulous year
with little free time.

March 2010

Note:  Our favorite preschool teacher, Miss Jen, asked if "Cammie" could be shortened to "Cami".  I like it that way and it is just her nickname so from now on "Cami" it is.  I think she'll enjoy less letters.

2011 Week 8: Feb 20 - 26

Cami always impresses me with her determination and lack of fear.  She is so fun to watch at the skating rink.  She falls and she gets right back up again.

Cal is our cautious boy.

Cami looks like a garden gnome here.  This was after Gnomeo & Juliet.

At the driving range on our Monday together.

POTW:

I see this all the time.
Anytime Cami has a mountain to climb and needs help her big brother steps right in.
  Makes a mama's heart happy!

Whew!  It was a cold couple of days.  The kids had 2 snow days due to extremely cold temperatures.  We had a couple of Cal and Cami sleepovers where they stayed up late watching Star Wars The Clone Wars.  Our buddy T came over one day to play also so there was lots of light saber play and coloring at our house.

With school back in session, Cal's class had an awesome mystery reader.  If you look closely, you'll read "A Dentist's Day".  This dentist's day consisted of being the mystery reader at 1st grade and going to lunch with his wife, daughter, and in-laws.  A pretty good day if you ask me.

Grandfather, Mere and Aunt Collette came to town and brought a king cake.  Cami got the baby.

Our niece, Casey, had a birthday so we gave her a Musketeer costume.  She also had a really fun party at Pump It Up!

We also took time to do family pictures.

Things we loved this week:  inclement weather days, the fireplace, king cake, 4-wheel drive, girls day out, Pump It Up

Tuesday

Looking forward to spending tomorrow couped up in the house and now Cal has tomorrow off for adverse weather conditions.  So fun to have both my kiddos at home during the week.  I only wish Cam had the day off!

Here are some runners up:

This is how Cami went to sleep every night this week.  She says she is "comfy".  I have way more laundry than the norm.   She has on 2 shirts, 1 nightgown, 1 pair of pants, and 1 pair of shorts.

 Pre-skiing

2011: Week 2 January 8 - 15

POTW:

I couldn't pick just one this week.  1.  Carmelo Anthony at probably the last game he'll play for the Nuggets that we'll see in person.  2.  Dick Bavetto - 71 year old NBA ref and I am not even kidding.  He hasn't missed a scheduled game ever and has been ref-ing for longer than I've been alive.  3.  J.R. Smith - Total ball hog = totally fun to watch.

Things we loved this week:  Nanny McPhee Returns, La Cosina de Marcos, Thursday date night with friends, a great midweek babysitter, Nuggets vs. Heat, skipping

Cal has a dream!

In honor of Martin Luther King day, Cal also has a dream.

For my community -  new pencils every year and play nice on the playground.

For my country - we can clean our country.

For the world - that there are medicines for everyone and (my personal favorite) lightsabers so they can protect themselves.

2011 Week 1: January 1 - 7

Photo of the Week (from here on out referred to as POTW):

Not that exciting of a photo for this week but I want to get into the swing of posting at least one photo that that corresponds with our week.  This is what Cal noticed outside his window last week.  As the 2010 snow melted a giant "C" came to our cul-de-sac.

We talked about goals a lot this week and they must have talked about it in school a lot too.    Here are Cal's goals for the new year.

1.  football 2. baseball 3. run 4. exercise 5. eat vegetables and fruit 6. basketball
I wrote them in on the side so I can add this to his memory book and not forget what he wrote.  I am pretty sure he acheives these goals all the time - almost weekly.

Cami also has great goals.  At her advanced age of 4, her goal is to learn to babysit.   She was a little angry that her teacher wouldn't let her do babysitting for her goal.  I reminded her that there are no babies at school so that is why.  She went with spelling and writing her last name and making sure her shoes are on the correct feet.

Things we loved this week:  New Year's Day traditional dinner of ham, cabbage, and black-eyed peas, Band Hero, chemistry experiments, going back to school

Pre-New Years Snow and Welcoming 2011

After a really dry fall we were happy to see a little white stuff.  We took advantage of Dad's days off and went out sledding at our favorite hill at Cal's school.  I had to break in my new sled the kids got me for Christmas.

Dad pulling them back to the car.

For our last day of 2010, we decided to let the kids stay up this year.  Cami fell asleep around 10:15 and could not be woken to see the ball drop.  Cal on the other hand watched all the festivities and especially loved the New Kids on the Block on the Dick Clark Countdown -- takes me back to being a kid and staying up to watch them, not as young as Cal, but sort of a kid, right?  Cal and I slept on the couch after I turned the tv off at 1:30.  So after years of wondering, I think Cam and I have proof that he would stay up all night long if we let him.  He wasn't even too rotten the next day.

Christmas 2010

Christmas Catch-up

We had a great Christmas season full of car rides to see lights and way too many treats.  We did our traditional night of Chinese food with my mom, sister Dana, and niece Casey and then went to show them some of our favorites houses.

Christmas came early for Cam as he got to stitch his own face after falling onto a cleat during football on Christmas Eve morning.  He actually declared that stitching his own face was all he wanted for Christmas.  Sure he is pretty tough  . . . check out his pink kitty bandaid.

Christmas also came early for me as my new oven arrived earlier than expected.  The old one caught on fire during Cam's office party that was at our house.
BEFORE (with our friend Bob the chef)

 AFTER

On Christmas Eve we did the Auger family traditional dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, cabbage, and rice pudding.  We opened our one present each - pajamas again, of course.  We read from the scriptures, had a few piano solos, and then Cami directed us in the Nativity.  She was Mary, Dad was Joseph, Cal was the drummer boy, and Mom was the wise man.

Christmas morning we woke up around 7:45 and opened stockings and had dream cakes and then opened presents.  Cal gave Cam this sweet mug from his school.  Cami got a Pillow Pet, Zoobles, and Barbie Glitterizer from Santa and Cal got a Nintendo DS and Hot Wheels Criss Cross Crash.  I think Cami's favorite present was her "American Girl" (or a Target version) that Cal picked out for her.
Sunday morning we had Grandma Linda and Papa over for breakfast and presents.  Sunday night we had Dana, Scott, Casey, and Granny over for dinner and presents.

They may have also gotten some face paint for Christmas . . .
